Lylah Jarvis
Seasonal Instructor
Lylah grew up on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and in the mountains outside Durango, CO. Her experience being immersed in nature goes deep into her childhood. Growing up in Navajo culture instilled in Lylah a respect for the relationship we all share with the earth and a sense of responsibility to steward that relationship to the land and with each other. She and her three siblings also spent endless days on their family’s 40 acres in Colorado exploring, creating and tuning into the landscape. Her experience with nature connection is innate.
Her formal schooling includes a BA in Art from Fort Lewis College. She has also studied Permaculture Design for International Development at Quail Springs and has undertaken two 9 month apprenticeships in Medicinal Herbal Studies, one of which earned her a certificate in Medicinal Herbalism. Lylah is currently working toward a certificate in a Cowry Shell Divination which is an ancient and indigenous form of intuitive reading taught by Malidoma Some from the Dagara tribe in Burkina Faso, West Africa. She has also been training in the Brazilian Martial Art of Capoeira for nine years. Her life experience has given her a breadth of connection in many ways. She is currently working as an artist and teacher and spends a lot of time with children.
