Earthroots Field Schools offers a wide variety of nature-based field trips for schools, homeschool co-ops, and scout troops. Our programs are designed for elementary aged learners and offer a selection of hands-on activities to choose from. Important Notes:
Field trips are available on Mondays and Fridays for the 2024-2025 school year.
Maximum field trip size is 60 participants (i.e. 2 classes).

Sensory Awareness
Kindergarten – Grade 2

Pollinator Hike
Grades 1-3
Learn about native habitats and the vital roles pollinators and native plants play in the environment.
The Art of Tracking
Grades 2-6
Become a detective and develop your animal tracking skills through this fun interactive adventure. Find and identify tracks, scat, vocalizations, and other signs of local wild animals native to the area.
Ecological Gardening
Grades 2-4
Discover the magic of growing your own food in this hands-on gardening class.
Beyond the Green Blur
Grades 3-5
Oftentimes, the natural world can look like an expansive green blur of vegetation. Move beyond the green blur as you learn to recognize individual plants in the world around you by getting to know some local plants and their uses.
Natural Building
Grades 3-5
Explore natural building techniques as you build with materials found locally on the land.
Ancestral Living Skills
Grades 3-6
Learn survival skills through hands-on activities and games while developing a grateful perspective on modern world conveniences.
Ecological Restoration
Grades 4-6
Become a land steward and participate in ecological restoration projects while connecting with nature.
Stream Survey
Grades 5-6
How do you tell if a body of water is healthy or polluted? Learn about water quality, healthy habitats and protecting local waterways.
Explore Tide Pools
