Karen Graham
Program Director | Instructor
Karen Graham began her journey with Earthroots in 2013 when she enrolled her children in the Forest Kindergarten program after moving to Orange County. A mother of four, she values spending time outdoors with her family and fostering a deep, meaningful connection with nature.
Karen has over 25 years of experience teaching in public schools and holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Master of Education in Dual Language Development. Before joining Earthroots, she worked as a teacher, instructional coach, and curriculum writer for Long Beach Unified School District.
As Program Director at Earthroots, Karen supports instructors and programs across the organization, helping bring hands-on, nature-based learning to people of all ages. She also serves as the lead instructor for the Earthroots Ecoliteracy in Schools (EES) Program and develops hands-on, place-based lessons that connect students with their local ecosystems.
Karen combines her passion for education with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. She is also a certified California Naturalist, a role that continues to deepen her understanding of and connection to the natural world.
In her free time, Karen enjoys gardening, especially growing food and native plants, cooking with wild foods, camping, crafting, and volunteering with organizations such as the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) and the Southern California Bluebird Club. She feels grateful to merge her love of nature with her dedication to teaching and learning at Earthroots.
