Karen Graham

Program Director | Instructor

Karen Graham began her journey with Earthroots in 2013 when she enrolled her children in the Forest Kindergarten program after moving to Orange County. A mother of four, she prioritizes spending time outdoors with her family and fostering a deep connection with nature.

Karen has over 20 years of experience teaching in public schools and holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Master of Education in Dual Language Development. Before joining Earthroots, she worked as a teacher and curriculum writer for Long Beach Unified School District. As a curriculum writer for Earthroots, she develops engaging lessons that connect students with their local ecosystems.

Karen is the lead instructor for the Earthroots Ecoliteracy in Schools (EES) Program, where she combines her passion for education with her commitment to environmental stewardship. She is also a certified California Naturalist, a role that further deepens her understanding of and connection to the natural world.

In her free time, Karen enjoys gardening—especially growing food and native plants—cooking with wild foods, camping, crafting, and volunteering with organizations such as the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) and the Southern California Bluebird Club. She feels fortunate to merge her love for nature with her dedication to teaching at Earthroots.
