Shelby Kohn believes that great healing can be done through authentic connection with the land. This Austin, Texas native is currently a senior at Soka University of America pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Environmental Studies and Spanish. Through her own deeply impactful experiences in the wilderness she’s grown a passion helping people connect and establish a relationship with nature.
Before becoming a Homeschool field instructor, Shelby interned with Earthroots’ Ecoliteracy Program for two years before taking a year off of school to pursue the field of wilderness therapy. As a wilderness field guide, she lived in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument where she led two week backpacking trips for adolescents going through intensive therapeutic programs.
In her spare time, Shelby is a yoga instructor, loves to hike, hula hoop, whittle spoons, make jewelry, and sew.
