Vanessa Renée Williams

Vanessa is a writer, creative educator, and community builder who believes that learning, play, and curiosity are lifelong practices. She holds a degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College and is a published journalist, bringing a thoughtful storytelling lens to her work in communications and community engagement. Originally from Detroit, she now lives in Denver.
She has more than two decades of experience working with conservation nonprofits in community engagement, education, and partnerships, first becoming involved in this work as a high school student. Her career has been shaped by a deep appreciation for hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and the power of storytelling to inspire care for the natural world.
In her role at Earthroots Field School, Vanessa supports sharing Earthroots’ values and experiences through meaningful, accessible storytelling. She is also a small business owner who creates explorative, therapeutic art experiences for people of all ages, encouraging learning and play as lifelong pursuits.
Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys travel, adventure, and spending time outdoors with her daughter, finding inspiration in creativity and nature.
