Description
Make your own seedballs at home with our DIY Seedball Kit! This kit contains the right proportions of clay, organic compost and native seeds. Mix the dry ingredients provided, add water, roll into little balls and let them dry. Your seedballs will transform your yard, a vacant lot or a local habitat restoration project. Native seeds are gathered within 25 miles of Silverado Canyon, Orange County, California and include seed varieties from Big Oak Canyon.
What are Seedballs?
Seed balls are marble sized mixtures of native seeds, clay and compost used to replant habitat. Seed balls solve several problems with large scale restoration. When broadcasting seeds, they may blow away, be washed away in heavy rains or be eaten by birds and small animals.
Seed balls protect the ungerminated seeds from being eaten by birds or other critters and keep them in place until the right amount of rain falls to wash away the clay leaving the seeds surrounded by a moist bed of compost, ready to grow. Our Seedball kit is fun and provides an easy activity for all ages.
